Alex Lopez: As I Only Can
Belong
February 20 through March 20, 2009
Alex Lopez, a transplanted Texan, teaches sculpture at Southern Illinois
University, Carbondale. His sculptural installations are comprised
of a collection of true stories based upon personal historic identity,
personal experiences and social events. His installations pose questions
about the human condition, particularly regarding compromise, conformity,
loss and hope.
Alex Lopez has exhibited his work in museums and galleries in Texas,
Illinois, New York City, and Chicago. His work has been featured in
several catalogues and has been reviewed in Art in America,
Art Lies, and Art Papers.
The Nu-Art Series is a Not-for-Profit Arts Organization.
